A letter from our Co-Founder, Kirstin Burghart
As I sat in my office just a few blocks from Twitter my mind began racing. The real estate market had crashed and I was knee deep trying to assist new construction clients attempt to mitigate losses, while communicate the latest offerings and still create some sense of urgency to move inventory. I was uploading a Twitter widget to a website to announce a new release of model homes, when a thought occurred to me. People trust the people they know best. The tools to communicate in unique ways were at my fingertips. Why not give my client buildings a true voice? One that could be shared with their network of co-workers, family and friends – modern day word of mouth marketing.
“Six degrees of separation is the idea that all people are six, or fewer, social connections away from each other. As a result, a chain of "a friend of a friend" statements can be made to connect any two people in a maximum of six steps.”
And 6 Degrees Group was born.
I could start with how this past decade flew by, how I’m not sure where the time went, but that would be a lie. The truth is that this business and you, our family of clients, collaborators and trusted partners kept me going when time seemed to stand still. I’ve never had a larger group of champions who continually encouraged me, challenged me and trusted me.
Over the past 10 years, we’ve seen fluctuations in the real estate market, rapid evolution of technology and a digital landscape that has transformed the way we communicate with each other. Ironically, the single thread that has remained a constant for us has been our client base. It’s not often a business can say that over 90% of clients have remained loyal and returned for over 9 years.
It’s always been about the people for us, the connections we make and the stories we collect along the way.
Thank you for being a part of our milestone.
Kirstin
